Martial Arts is a practice for training in combat. Its basic purpose is to defend oneself from a physical threat and defeat the other person in the process. The term ‘martial arts’ has been derived from a European word for fighting art, which is known as European martial arts. It means the art of warfare. The Martial arts weapon have always played an important role in the process of combat. Nunchakus are one of the weapons used in Karate, a martial arts form. They are part of the traditional Kobudu weapons and consist of two sticks tied to their ends by means of a chain or rope.
Karate actually means empty handed, so it does seem odd that the form uses a lot of martial arts weapons. It is not mandatory to use these weapons but if you do, they can double your strength and coordination, making you a top class fighter. Today weapons and martial arts go hand in hand.
There are many types of martial arts in various countries and there are even more types of martial arts weapons. There are broad categories of these weapons, with each consisting of further sub divisions. You can many forms of weapons under these categories.
Before training with a martial arts weapon you need to try them out, so you can understand which matches you style of fighting. Go into the history of each weapon and find out which kind of training is each one best for. Then choose the one that suits you.
The Nunchuck is used in the Okinawan martial arts such as some forms of karate. Some Eskrima systems also include usage of the Nunchuck. It was developed in the 17th century by Okinawans after the Japanese occupied their land. Originally the two equal sections were tied together by horsehair.
In its earliest forms, the Nunchuck was used as an agricultural tool used for threshing grain. When used as a weapon it was incorporated as a part of various positions and techniques. The sticks were used to strike or poke and the chain could strangle or block the opponent. Currently the Nunchuck is included as a part of martial arts training and is also used by some law enforcement agencies.

A Peripheral Weapon? $155 The tank was arguably the most important technological innovation that developed during World War I; however, without the support of the British Army and the allocation of important wartime resources, it would have remained merely a peripheral weapon. For far too long, the depiction of the British War Office and GHQ, France, as anti-technological and cavalry-oriented has persisted. While some historians have recently challenged this view, much of the traditional versus progressive school of thought, in regard to the production and employment of the tank, still survives. By posing the question: was the tank a peripheral weapon? this work reveals the vital role of the War Office in the production and employment of this stunning new weapon. The War Office was behind the creation of the original Tank Committee, the New or Advisory Tank Committee, the Tank Directorate and the Tank Board. It was these bodies, particularly the Tank Board, established in 1918, that facilitated the crucially important liaison between the users of tanks in France and the producers at the Ministry of Munitions. Without War Office involvement in this way, without its continued orders for more and better tanks, and without the consistently high priority status accorded to tank production by General Haig, it is inconceivable that the tank would have reached the level of technical sophistication, and therefore usefulness, that it had by late 1918. |

A-Town Secret Weapon $14.38 Atlanta's Baby D might not be the world's least prolific rapper, but his release schedule has certainly been slow, just three albums over eight years. Seeing as how the 2008 release date of A-Town Secret Weapon found him sitting in jail awaiting trial on cocaine trafficking charges, it probably just got slower. It's a shame really because besides all the obvious reasons, Secret Weapon just doesn't have that end to end excitement his debut had and more importantly, it does squat for his long term potential. Instead, it goes for the quick buck with plenty of tired Southern rap devices yielding a handful of memorable singles rather than a memorable artist. "Big Boy Whips" is a rims-loving anthem that sticks in the head, "I'm Bout Money" is a glorious "make it rain" track that throws the big bills in the air, and "Girls Gone Wild" is a convincing smooth slow ride past any object of attraction that has you feenin'. These highlights are just as riddled with clichés as the tiresome, plentiful filler and you can't say the problem is the production -- DJ Montay did almost everything -- or the rapper's performance -- he delivers every track with spark and conviction. Instead, it's the overall idea of casting this previously scrappy hood as a radio endorsed superstar since his most satisfying and natural sounding work has been down in the gutter and fully committed to the dirty dirty. Ravenous fans of the Southern hip-hop might want to give the album a passing glance and folks who remember the man from back when will be excited when the album pops. Everyone else should stick to the singles. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi |

The Secret Weapon Against Terrorism $16.99 "In this book, Ogweno is not seeking God's best answer for terrorism but God's personal intervention. He points out the difference it makes when God Himself shows up in the hearts of both the terrorist and the terrorized. God's law, for example, is perfect-His best (Psalm 19: 7), but some religious people almost executed a woman based on their understanding of this law. All this changed when, instead of "God's best," God Himself showed up (John 8: 3-11). The books that have been written on terrorism are basically descriptive and informative. In this book, however, Ogweno compellingly turns the light on to the prescriptive and transformative Secret Weapon Against Terrorism. He maintains: "Our greatest desire is to bring back civility, sanity and security so that we can travel, work and gather in social places without fear. We don't seek to understand terrorism more than we long to stop it." This book, therefore, doesn't describe the problem, it prescribes the solution. In the morning hours of January 22nd 1989, Ogweno "stumbled" on what he had been unknowingly seeking-something that would quench the sensual cravings in his life. He met Christ and was sensationally saved. Since then, he has passionately pursued God's pleasure. Ogweno believes that God spoke to him, saying: 'I am going to give you My best ' But he answered and said: 'Lord, I need more than Your best; I need You-Personally " That was Ogweno's quest. The result, as he puts it, "God didn't just give me His best, He gave me Himself in the person of Christ." Ogweno holds Bachelor of Education (Moi University, Kenya) and M.Phil. in Mass Communication and Media Studies (University of Bergen, Norway). He is married to Laura Carolineand they are blessed with two boys: Victor and Jim-Jif, and a girl: Baraka." |

Pick a Bigger Weapon $11.18 If you look hard enough at the cover of Pick a Bigger Weapon, you can see dangling legs through a hole in the wall of a ransacked Omnimart corporate office. DJ Pam "The Funkstress"' holds a bat, Boots Riley holds a pen, and bottles of a product called Ass-Breath Killer are on a desk and the ground. It's evident that this cover isn't likely to put them in hot water, like the original cover of Party Music did almost five years prior, unless someone prominent and silly finds the legs shocking. The Coup's long-standing balance between humor and righteous anger remains on this, their fifth album, and they still deliver the laughs and rants over juiced synth-funk. This time out, they use the band format more than before, with the likes of Audioslave's Tom Morello, Tony! Toni! Toné!'s D'Wayne Wiggins, and a few funk vets chipping in on occasion. The album's press sheet draws comparisons to Prince's Dirty Mind and Too Short, and while that's not inaccurate, the references could just as easily be Digital Underground, Paris, Above the Law, E-40, late-'70s Parliament/Funkadelic, any previous Coup album, or just about any other funk-steeped rap album that has come from the West Coast. Nursery rhyme-style choruses like "Bush and Hussein together in bed, giving H-E-A-D head/Y'all muthaf*ckas heard what we said/Billions made and millions dead" will get some attention, while complex verses that are not as easy to digest (or quote) will not. Boots is as lyrically pointed as ever, dropping dozens of resonant rhymes that rail and educate, and he's even better when he punctuates his messages with humor, as he does in a faux-uppity voice on "We Are the Ones": "The one university I knew was Yale, so I cooked it, bagged it, put it on sale/Now, philosophically, you'd be opposed to one inhaling coke by the mouth or nose/But, economically, I would propose that you go eat a dick as employment had froze." Even "Ass-Breath Killers" has a much deeper meaning than the title indicates -- ass breath comes from kissing ass, and if you use the product, you'll grow a spine and maybe die for speaking your mind. Some fans might hastily skip past the sleazy romantic interludes ("Ijuswannalay..." seems to exist only to segue smoothly into "Head"), but the album is perfectly capable of rattling trunks and energizing activists. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi Performers: Damion Gallegos - Clapping, Guitar (Acoustic); Dawn Elissa Fischer - Talking, Vocals (Background); Michael Aaberg - Arp Odyssey, Arp, Mini Moog, Farfisa Organ, Clavinet, Fender Rhodes; Ben Barnes - Cello, Viola, Violin; Degi Simmons |
